How To Increase Attendance
From 25% to 95% In Record Time
A Case Study
After a careful analysis of the problem, we implemented a system thinking approach to this organization, and we were able to get a 70% increase in attendance in a short period.

Jay learned that typically 1 in 4 defendants (25%) show up to their scheduled court proceedings. This was largely due to Notify Letters, which advised the defendant of the date and time of their necessary court arraignment, being sent to the wrong address or the defendants not taking the letters seriously.
This caused a lot of loss time for the prosecutors and additional work for the Investigators to prepare additional arrest warrant documents. Jay analyzed the current procedure from a system thinking standpoint. Jay researched the current process from beginning to end and spoke to everyone involved in the procedure.
As a result, Jay came up with the following solution:

Since implementing this procedure, defendants showing up to court proceedings increased significantly.

With an eventful 25 years in San Diego Law Enforcement, and over half that time in leadership positions, Jay has learned what inspires a team or stifles their spirit. Jay has led multiple successful teams and believes that leadership development and building a healthy people-focused workplace are the foundation for a thriving and successful organization.
